- IFWE is honored to have joined the United Nations Global Compact! Click HERE for the welcome letter received from Sanda Ojiambo, CEO & Executive Director, United Nations Global Compact. Here is an excerpt:
“Dear Nada Salem,
This is the age of the new normal, a time of great challenge for the global business community, but also a time of great clarity.
If the events of 2020 taught us anything, it is that our systems are more fragile and our societies even more unequal than we may have imagined. Business-as-usual is no longer an option in the context of a devastating pandemic and an international economic meltdown.
Instead, this is a moment for principles, resilience, innovation and collaboration on the road to a sustainable recovery and a healthier, more inclusive world…
Business leaders who sign on to the UN Global Compact make a commitment to align their business strategies and practices with our Ten Principles spanning human rights, labour, the environment and the fight against corruption. By integrating these universal principles of responsibility and sustainability into their core operations and across their value chains, companies are also contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda…
Thank you for joining us on that path. Let us forge ahead, united in the business of a better world, to achieve the transformational change we need in 2021 and beyond.
Yours Sincerely,
Sanda Ojiambo
CEO & Executive Director
United Nations Global Compact”

- PERSONAL INVITATION TO THE BAHAMAS in May/June 2021, as long as you stay safe and healthy at home now 🙂
I am honored to share with you that I was invited to be the keynote speaker at a high profile and widely marketed conference for women in the Bahamas on March 28, 2020. I am very grateful to my Harvard University “classmate,” Her Excellency, Mrs. Miriam Emmanuel, Member of the Bahamian Parliament (also President of the Women With Issues Network and member of IFWE’s Honorary Support Committee) and her husband, Bishop Leroy Emmanuel, for putting their faith in me and asking me to address, challenge and motivate, for two hours, a large audience formed of Ministers, Members of Parliament, present and former Politicians, Judges, Magistrates, Church Leaders, Police Officers, Defence Force Officers, Immigration Officers, University Professors, Principals, Teachers, Women from other Civic Organizations and the Community.
I would like to thank all the people who were going to join us at this conference and tell them that, although it was rightfully postponed till the fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we still hope to see them all with us then… especially the members of IFWE’s and AFEE’s Boards, the members of our Honorary and International Support Committees, the members of our Webinar Steering Committee, and all our friends and relatives who support women’s empowerment!
Let us plan to stay at home for now to avoid the virus, stay healthy and safe, stay tuned in to IFWE’s webinars, and go to the Bahamas EN MASSE in the fall!
I am counting on YOUR SUPPORT!
Sincerely,
Nada Salem

“Your organization, the IFWE, can replace centuries-old ways of thinking about what the role of women in modern society should be. It is a peaceful evolution based upon love and respect. Women are our Mothers, our Sisters and our Daughters, and the Givers of Life. We need to empower women to achieve peace and to protect our sacred Mother Earth – who has given us all life.” –Marcus Nobel
